Abstract:

This video shows RUPES Project activities in initiating a reward for environmental service scheme in Bac Kan Province, Vietnam. Dominated by forestry and agroforestry upland terraces with Ba Be Lake, the Bac Kan provincial landscape provides all four environmental services: watershed function, carbon sequestration, landscape beauty and biodiversity conservation. On the basis of lessons learned from payments for environmental services cases in Vietnam, it appears that the most successful rewards schemes relevant to Bac Kan could be watershed function and carbon sequestration.
