2010
We learned with great sadness today the death in late February of Ivan Bond, an IIED senior scientist serving as member of the RUPES International Steering Committee during the project’s phase 1 (2003-2008). We remember Ivan for his humour, sound judgment, interest, curiosity and advise.
According to the report on IIED website, he died following surgery for a tumour on his lung. Ivan was a very fit and active man to the last. Ivan worked on the practicalities of payments for environmental services - much on watersheds and latterly on REDD - and a range of other projects.
Ivan leaves many, many friends, in many parts of the globe. In Indonesia, besides with RUPES-ICRAF, he also worked with colleagues from the Indonesian leading non-government organization - LP3ES.
At RUPES, we treasure our memories with Ivan and share our condolence with Ivan’s family and colleagues in IIED. May his soul rest in peace.
