World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF Vietnam) together withInternational Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) andthe Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) are organising the National Workshop on Climate Change Adaptation for Agriculture and Forestry in Vietnam in Hanoi on November 22.
The overall objective of this one-day workshop is to support the development of the National Strategy on Climate Change under MONRE. Specifically, to
1) understand the trends and patterns of adaptation strategy at regional and national level;
2) share new climate change projections relevant for agriculture and forestry;
3) share experiences from local level to national level action plans for climate-smart agriculture that can contribute to poverty reduction and climate adaptation;
4) raise key topics and questions that need further research for developing concept notes.
The workshop is arranged as a set of short presentations by representatives from MONRE and MARD, national and international research institutes, NGOs and universities, followed by a market place that offers a unique chance for donors, researchers and practitioners in the fields of agriculture and forestry research to network and discuss new project ideas.
In addition, Dr Nguyen Ba Ngai, DDG VNFOREST MARD and Dr Meine van Noordwijk, Principal Scientist and Chief Science Advisor, World Agroforestry Centre will launch two new tool books on Natural Resource Management at the workshop.
