Abstract:

This book contains the writers experiences at ICRAF in diagnosing and monitoring problems in watershed management. The main topics raised in this book is a watershed hydrological functions in particular (i) the interaction between landscape with rainfall and (ii) the landscape as a habitat for aquatic organisms that serves as a pointer of water quality and pollution levels. The results of these observations we hope will become an input for stakeholders in discussions and negotiations in an effort to better manage the watershed that benefits all parties. Issues related to watershed management is not only free up X million hectares of degraded land by planting trees. However, watershed management has the dimensions of the different problems and each problem requires a different approach as well.
