The 3rd stakeholder workshop on payments for environmental services (PES) in Bac Kan
On October 1st 2011, the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) Vietnam, in collaboration with the management board of Bac Kan Pro-Poor Partnership for Agro- forestry Development (3PAD) project, held a stakeholder workshop on payment for environmental services (PES) in the piloting communes of 3PAD project in Bac Kan.
In order to prepare for the worshop, a large number of meetings at all levels and interviews with farmers, leaders from relevant organizations have been conducted by ICRAF Vietnam technical officers from August to October 2011.

On 30 June, 2011, in Bac Kan province, over 50 delegates joined the second stakeholder workshop on environmental services, co-hosted by the Pro-Poor Partnerships for Agroforestry Development (3PAD) project and ICRAF Vietnam.
The participants represented provincial government departments and the three districts covering the project sites of Ba Be, Na Ri and Pac Nam.

The Payments for Forest Environmental Services (PFES) scheme has the potential not only to alleviate poverty in some of the poorest areas of Vietnam but also make a significant contribution to environmental sustainability. ICRAF will collaborate with communities in Pac Nam, Ba Be and Na Ri districts in Bac Kan province to test methods and tools to prepare the communities to receive payments.
